European Commission supports reintegration of woman into the labour market – current news.

16 of 30 young women in the project have found a job or are on job-practice on jobsites or taking part in certain job-trainings after which they will enter the labour market. Two of the women from the project group have returned to secondary school.

This is the effect of Viljandi County Government` s EQUAL project “Connected Services for Integrating Young Mothers into the Labour Market” in Estonia has finished different trainings and counselling (motivation and self-regulation training, job-searching training, career and psychological counselling etc) for 30 young mothers who do not work and have no working experience and raise children under 7 years .
16 of 30 young women in the project have found a job or are on job-practice on jobsites or taking part in certain job-trainings after which they will enter the labour market. Two of the women from the project group have returned to secondary school.

The women are engaged in different jobs – in sewing-factory as sewers, in shops as sales assistants, in cleaning service as cleaning women. The job-practices are for example in wedding and festival organizing firm and in beauty salon where one woman works as a hairdresser. The women who are taking part of job-trainings will become for instance manicurists and sales representatives.

One woman from the project has said during the interview: “This project helps me to achieve my goals and become whom I want to become. It helps me to realize what I want to do in my life and make the right decisions”.

Between 15-16 June, the trainers involved in the Hungarian project have visited the Italian project „DEA” in Cosenza, Calabria for an exchange of the experiences. The Italian partners presented a detailed picture of the process of recruitment, selection and motivation of the participants , and in particular the experiences of the balance of competences. The Hungarian partners illustrated the same processes of the Hungarian project . The meeting proved to be a very useful occasion for discussing the difficulties women in „disadvantaged„ situations have to face when entering the labour market . The Hungarian partners had a chance to meet with some of the participants, as well.

The polish partner is it the process of Telework trainings planned for 800 potential tele-employers and tele-employees. Trainings present the organizational, legal and technical aspects of telework.

In the meantime the are preparing the pilot phase – the will provide 40 workplaces with free telework equipment and support it for 5 months.

COMPASS Partnership has been recently presented at the IST4Balt Workshop in Laagri, Estonia, 29.06-30.06.2006 entitled "Baltic ICT community on the way to FP7". The workshop aimed at strengthening the scientific and technological cooperation and collaboration among the European Union countries in field of mobile services and applications, software and e-services, innovations, e-Learning, e-Logistics, e-Health, e-Work, e-Inclusion, audio-visual and cross-media content for leisure and entertainment.
The presentation of the COMPASS aimed at encouraging and boosting and interest of the participants in creation of equal opportunities for men and women.
The workshop assembled approximately 100 participants coming from more than 10 European countries (private and state IT/IST organizations, scientific and educational institutions, SMEs).

In July 30 participants of the “DEA” project in Italy have successfully finished the ECDL course and received a certificate acknowledged in all Europe.

The COMPASS partnership has started its activity in the beginning of 2006. The partnership includes EQUAL projects from Italy, Estonia, Poland and Hungary which all focus on supporting women on the labour market with various services, training programs and through the promotion of the advantages of tele-work and other alternative and flexible working solutions.
